Boys raided the “Skipperettes” slumber parties to collect and hang the girl’s underwear on apple trees.
Residents formed the Idledale Water District in 1946 and two fully- equipped Civil Defense fall-out shelters in 1950. Without funding for delivery, the post o ce provides lock mailboxes near the school, which became a church and is now a community center. Beginning in the late 1940s, the volunteer re department created an outstanding emergency rescue team, which became the volunteer Highland Rescue Team from
the mid-1970s to 1982. Voters in Genesee, Lookout Mountain, Mount Vernon Country Club and Idledale created a special district of HRT in 2007!
