The Golden Landmarks Association was founded in 1972 by community volunteers who convinced the City of Golden to preserve the Astor House, a hotel built in 1867 at 822 12th Street. GLA has preserved structures, photographs, literature, furniture, and other artifacts of historical signi cance. Members encourage study and documentation of history and tradition, including preservation of structures moved to create Clear Creek History Park. GLA manages an annual Holiday House Tour and other special events, seminars and projects like the signage along the Washington St. Bridge and “Bu alo Bill Days.” GLA has honored hundreds of citizens who have made a signi cant contribution to Golden and Je erson County at an annual Living Landmarks Dinner.
