The Daughters of the American Revolution began collecting Golden historical artifacts in 1924. Je erson County and the federal Works Progress Administration funded more exhibits and maintenance in a restored school in 1939-41. The collection was moved in 1954 to an unoccupied courthouse and again in 1958 to a wing of the new Golden Municipal Center. Finally, in 1995, the “Golden Pioneer Museum” became permanent in the former public library building at 923 10th St. between city hall and the new Golden Library.
