Golden Civic Foundation

Over the past 45 years, the Golden Civic Foundation has provided more than $5.1 million to charitable organizations, public schools, museums, and cultural centers in the greater Golden area. In the late 1960s, 40% of downtown Golden was vacant and existing businesses had a di cult time surviving. Tax revenues and public funds were not available. Businessmen Heinie Foss, Fred Pattridge and Joe Meyer formed the Golden Civic Foundation in 1970. Their mission was to invest in economic and cultural vitality working with the City-created Urban Renewal Authority and private investors. The result is Golden Visitor Center, Table Mountain Inn, American Mountaineering Center, Golden Hotel, Clear Creek Commons, Clear Creek Square, Gateway Station and downtown streetscape, parking lots, and public art. Nonpro ts apply for grants from the Foundation’s annual funding cycle. The GCF has supported the existing 2016 result of a vibrant economy.
Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum

The mission of the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum is to collect, preserve, exhibit, and educate the public about quilts; honor quilt-making traditions; and embrace the evolution of the art and craft of quilting. It o ers unique exhibits, gift shop, demonstrations, and library.
Foothills Art Center

This unique, community cultural center is within a former First Presbyterian Church built in 1872. When a larger church was built elsewhere, Unitarian volunteers organized studio classes, workshops, lectures and exhibits of art, photography, music and poetry in 1968. By 1983, it became a community art center. It o ers changing exhibits, tours, classes, summer camps, studios, gift gallery and holiday gift market. The annual Holiday Gift Gallery of handmade treasures by Colorado artists is extremely popular.
