In 1920, Lucius and Hazel Humphrey purchased the 330-acre Kinnikinnick Ranch with a pioneer log home built in the late 1870s west of Bergen Park. “Hump” was the rst daily commuter by crossing Lookout, down the Lariat Trail to Golden, and on to Denver in his Model T.
Hazel and their daughter Hazel Lou
delightfully created a log Trading Post
at Fillius Park during the 1920s. Hazel
Lou became a pillar of the Evergreen
community until she died on her 78th
birthday in 1995. She bequeathed
everything to charitable organizations. Volunteers and small paid sta maintain the living history experience on a 1930s ranch that is complete with goats and chickens, an art gallery, an antique store, hiking trails and special events.
